TE Connectors Showcases Latest Powertrain Sensing Technologies at Magna

Recently, TE Connectors hereinafter referred to as "TE") Sensor Business Unit successfully held a technical exchange session titled "Sensor Technology Applications in Powertrain Systems" with Magna Powertrain (Jiangxi) Co., Ltd. Against the backdrop of accelerating industry electrification, the two parties, building on a decade-long collaboration, further explored innovative applications and future development paths for sensor technologies.

Today, electric powertrains are becoming a key driver of the global automotive industry's green transformation, with high-precision sensors serving as a core component ensuring their safe and efficient operation. Over the past ten years, TE's Sensor Business Unit has maintained close collaboration with Magna Powertrain. Their first new energy motor resolver project, co-developed by both parties, is set to enter mass production smoothly in September this year, laying a solid foundation for their synergistic development and deeper cooperation in the new energy sector.

During this exchange session, TE further showcased innovative sensing solutions for next-generation motor systems to Magna, including the new-generation eddy current angle sensor and tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) sensor, offering more optimized technical choices for motor rotational position measurement.

TE's newly launched eddy current angle sensor demonstrates significant technological advantages over traditional resolvers:

Enhanced immunity to stray magnetic field interference
Supports ASIL C/D functional safety level requirements
Optimized system cost structure

Meanwhile, the tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) sensor retains the above advantages while also featuring:

A more compact packaging design
Significantly reduced product weight
Particularly suitable for space-constrained application scenarios

During the session, TE also displayed a series of sensors for transmissions, including transmission speed sensors, transmission position sensors, and sensor clusters.
